We are just about to move to this house in Edens Road, Hope which is

Starting with 1.25 acres of lawns and paddocks (centre-left of photo) with a
typical New Zealand house we hope to reduce our carbon footprint by:
a)
Growing fruit & veg for the kitchen
b)
Using as many simple organic techniques as we can find.
c)
Producing our own wine from our own and local crops.
d)
Using solar energy to provide hot water with excess heat used to heat
a spa-pool.
e)
Using intelligent computer control of shutters to best utilise the
thermal effects of the Nelson weather.

Create a quirky holiday destination
For those who have had enough of organic farming for a while then time could be spent on our resort theme of trains. We would like to create a miniature world and automatic model railway. So much effort goes into model railways hidden in peoples garages and attics and so few people get to enjoy the creations. We would like to create a public exhibition eventually. If you can draw a train, model in small scales (N & H0), create the scenery, paint a landscape or have any skills relevant to creating a model world then you would be most welcome to join us.
Alternatively if you can create a garden sculpture or topiary then your stay with us could pass very quickly.
In return for your enthusiastic and hard work we offer plenty of good food, a great location and good conversation. We eat meat and fish with plenty of vegetables. We will do our best for vegetarians, especially if they can advise on menus or help cook. We love food from around the world so bring a favourite recipe for us to try. Faddy eaters should stay at home!
Accommodation for workers is the top floor of our house or a large tent with air beds in our garden. Couples and responsible families welcome.
Our facilities include broadband, table tennis, garden games, board games, piano and other musical instruments. Local facilities include mountain biking, swimming holes, shopping in Richmond and local beaches. Our interests include music, drama, model railways, winemaking, computing, cookery and gardening. NON-SMOKERS only! Visits of 1 week or more preferred.
